E Day Resolutions?

Earth Day. It's the "New" New Years. I don't know about you but I stopped making New Year's resolutions a long time ago... but now everyone seems to be making Earth Day Resolutions and I can not resist. Why not try to "Go Green"

So with the assistance of my kids we have decided that we will be plastic bag free. We have about 10 of those "free" giveaway canvas totess that have never been used so we are going to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! By using the totes we will: Reduce the amount of plastic bags filling our landfills, Reuse the totes for a purpose, Recycle any remaining plastic bags in our home.

That was our Earth Day Eve resolution last night. And I'm proud to say, I've gone shopping and returned without any plastic bags! And what's more the canvas totes were so easy to carry that I didn't have to struggle to hold my daughter's hand in the parking lot! One more reason to Celebrate Earth Day!

If you go paper you can fill them with dirt grow a tree and plant it bag and all! We've got a bag to use at the store but tend to forget to bring it. We should do better!

We've been using the canvas bags for about 2 years now. Once you get the hang of remembering to use them, it becomes second nature. We love not having to take the plastic and paper bags back to the store for recycling. That, and it distinguishes us from the tourists! :-)

What a wonderful resolution. I keep mine in my van so they're hard for me to forget. I usually shop at stores that don't provide bags so it's an added incentive to me to remember those bags. If I don't I either have to pay for bags or juggle my purchases.

I put all 10 bags into the car and told my kids that when we bring them inside and empty them that they have to take them back out to the car so I won't forget them at home. Good plan (if the kids aren't in school). I have to admit that I went to several stores this afternoon and half way across the parking lot I had to go back to the car for the bags but other than that they worked great!
