Polka-Dots and Mud!

I know I promised hummingbird info in my next post but...
I ACTUALLY DID SOME GARDENING TODAY!!! Apple~I'm sorry for the pain that this is going to cause. Look away now. LOL.

My hubby surprised me with a trip to my favorite store: The Backyard Farmer. Brian was able to offer me some great advice for my veggie garden and I had a wonderful time at the store. And I bought a new pair of rubber boots. Believe it or not, I never actually had a pair before! I always just wore my winter boots when working in a muddy garden. But not anymore! Now I have state of the art, old fashioned Wellies!
After we returned home, I slipped into my new polka dotted wellies and my other spring gardening gear~thermal sweatshirt, fleece hat, and cheap gardening gloves. After all, there is no sense ruining my favorite garden gear in the mud! As I worked in the garden several of my neighbors drove and gave the courtesy honk & wave. One even rolled down the window and hollared, "She's in the garden! It must be spring! WooHOO!" And it made me realize that my neighbors know me as the garden lady or the dog walking lady. Neither is an occassion I dress nicely for. They may never have seen the real me (you know~clean!). Just to be sure I don't make that same mistake here below I've posted both versions of myself. Clean and well... MUDDY!

Don't believe that I'm all that muddy? Just look at my gloves at the end of the day!

Don't you love gardening in the spring?

This is so funny and oh so true. The people up at the high school all tell me I dress "so fine" and always look "so put together". The people that know me at my daylily club have stopped by my garden and caught me looking my absolute worst.

There's a fine line between the clean me and the gardening me!

You clean up good! I recently read in the newspaper that boots such as yours are now de riguer for the Fashionistas, who are even wearing them to the office. Did you know you were a fashionplate?

Melanie~You're in a daylily club? I'm green with envy!

Mr Mc's Daughter~Just Call me Garden Chic! right...I couldn't even type it without laughing!

Nancy~I haven't changed at all since I've "grown up". After all, I'm still making mud pies!

TODAY!!??? My mud got covered by a fresh 2" last night.

I can attest to the fact that you clean up nice. LOL Love the wellies but didn't your feet freeze?

Alright, I started the post yesterday and didn't finish until today so actually I was outside yesterday in the sorta nice (although not sunny) weather. My feet did stay surprisingly warm and loved them more than I ever expected.

And I got snow last night as well. It was so depressing I almost didn't get out of bed. LOL

I'm never happier than when up to my elbows in mud, digging and messing in the garden. It's amazing how many people find it so renewing and satisfying!

Did you make mudpies while you were out there? I dig your boots. How about some more bad puns from me? Glad you're having fun.~~Dee

You DO clean up nicely. I guess folks here don't know gardening me too well, but I'm sure I'll fit right in around these parts. In my old garden I was sometimes afraid to show my face after a hard day's work. Image isn't as important here, that's just fine with me!

OOooh, LOVE the wellies...and the gloves, well mine will look like that one of these days if it EVER. STOPS. SNOWING. Sigh. But I got a cheerful chuckle out of this post.

Now you made us all have Wellie envy.
I need some mud boots, I went out the other day and sunk to my ankles in my tennis shoes. Nasty!

Aw, you all really know how to sweet-talk a girl! Between the "You Clean Up Good" and the "Wellie Envy" I'm feeling pretty spiffy right now. LOL.

The polka dots are you! LOL. Ron bought me a pair of barn boots for Christmas our first year in the house. I asked what they were for and now can't live without them! You have me thinking I could trade up and add a little style to my gardening!

I totally want some of those boots! I love shoes period, but never thought to explore the world of gardening attire!
